Oggy feat. Fatman Scoop

After his recent well-received remix of MØ – Drum, DJ OGGY returns with a high energy belter for the big room featuring none other than legendary FATMAN SCOOP.

The result is “NOW” (Tokyo MO Beats Original Mix) and serves up a roller coaster ride of panning-programming madness and lush uplifting power chords.

FATMAN SCOOP finishes off the track nicely with his signature shouts providing that ultimate weekend energy everyone longs for.

Oggy and Fatman Scoop met through AV8 Records and their mutual manager. The song was subsequently recorded in various studios in Los Angeles, New York and Tokyo.

MATT MILLER: “My ultimate goal is to connect people from all backgrounds”

MATT MILLER is a DJ who holds a master’s degree in education. He comes from a musical family: his mother, brother and sister all sing. But he is the wizard behind the decks and his DAW. Just two weeks ago he released his debut album RELATIONSHIPS featuring various styles and vocalists. Let’s learn a bit more about the man behind the music.

What has been your most fruitful life decision?
Moving across country to California

As someone from the house and techno generation, do you feel dubstep?
I think the dubstep generation understands the techno and house generation. I feel all music and I think I can create anything. I am not genre conformed and I will take that risk to make and put out any kind of music.

What is your favorite DAW to make tracks with and what makes it so great compared to other programs?
At first I use to use fruity loops and acid. Then moved to reason. I was limited with the sounds and VST. cause I would always have to export all my tracks and midi to Protools and then work in there. I preferred to use Ableton because it lets me do all of that with ease. Drag and Drop is awesome and the track limits are endless. If it’s just a quick instrumental no vocals tracks then I am using Ableton. If it’s vocals and other live instruments then I will use Protools.

Matt Miller Relationships Album

Do you care about social issues?
I think we all care about social issues and that is what drives us as Djs. Bringing people together for one night and having a good time no matter race, gender or identity.

How do you come up with the names for your tracks?
Most of the tracks I name come up during the mood I am in and experiencing at the time. If I met someone interesting or something happened in my relationships with others.

RelationshipsWould you recommend a career as a DJ to young kids?
What are the pros and cons? Don’t spend your money so fast. Put that money to furthering your DJ career.

What gives you the inspiration to make music?
Every relationship I’ve been in and have inspires me. It what helps me communicate with the world and people.

Tell us more about your latest release.
My latest release is about all the relationships I’ve been in throughout the years. Happy and good times. They may involve family members or just the people I surround myself with at the time.

How do you keep in touch with your fan base?
I communicate on Instagram and Twitter mainly.

Has your musical taste changed over time or do you think it will?
I think we all go through periods of time we listen to the same genre over and over again when we are alone. I love all kinds of music and I hope to someday work with all the genres of music.

Have you ever felt really disappointed about someone you did business with?
Yes I did music business with people from the East Coast and they took all the credit and put their name as the people who created it. They didn’t put out the money for studio, mastering fees, or promotion. It was something that I didn’t think someone who does not the connections to begin with would do.

Should more DJs learn the music theory, or doesn’t it matter that much when it comes to dance music?
I think anyone who is thinking about entering the music business should learn some music theory. especially Djs. There are certain pitches and melodies that can bring people down and put people up.

Do you like to go out to listen to sets of other DJs?
I take the time to go and listen to a DJ every week if I am not working or making music.

When you don’t listen to dance music, what Do you listen to?
If I am not listening to dance music I tend to listen to classical or meditation music.

What is the nicest thing a fan ever said to you?
The most nicest thing is that “ I love you, you are the best Dj ever”

Is the first record you ever bought worth mentioning or is it embarrassing?
The first record I ever bought when I actually had the money to spend on music  was Gina Thompson ft. Missy Elliot – The Things That You Do

Does your mother enjoy listening to your music? Probably not. I had to move out just so I can play it loud on the speakers I bought.

I am actually a shy person in general. But when I am in front of the crowd I get a rush and this other personality comes out.

Could you describe the lay-out of your live set-up?
A Macbook Pro, two-four Pioneer CDJs 2000 Nexus and a DJM mixer.

You are known to blend styles together ranging from Pop to Dubstep Is there any other particular style you would like to experiment with?
I am looking to experiment with country music.

Who is your favorite artist outside of EDM and why?
Jessie J would be one of my favorites. She loves to sing and I think she can sing on anything. She is a great artist and singer and love the songs she has out.

What is your drink of choice before you get on stage?
My favorite drink would probably be Red Bull and vodka or a shot of Fireball.

Do you have any aliases other than Dj Matt Miller under which you release music?
Dj Matt M, Dotmil or Matt Miller.

My ultimate goal is connect people from all backgrounds

How many tracks do you produce in a month and how many end up being released on average?
I probably will produce 2-5 per month but probably only one will be release in a 2 month period.

Do you try to incorporate other styles of dance music in your productions?
Yes, I try to incorporate what is hot on the radio at the time. I love world and dance music. So I give a mixture of dancehall, pop, and EDM together.

If you would play at a party where only 20 people showed up for.. would you finish your set and make it a hell of a party? Give an example.
If 20 people showed up I would make it a party to remember and involve every one there. I would take pictures with them all and use it as a promotion for my Dj brand.

Do you become a different person when you get on stage?
When I am on stage.. I tend to forget about my problems and only focus on making sure everyone including myself is having a good time.

Life experiences and what I’ve been through in life create inspiration

Do you have neighbors that complain about your music?
I actually had one neighbor tell me to turn it up. They work out to my music.

Is there a final thing you would like to say to our readers?
Keep on pursuing your dreams and never give up. Every relationship is a life lesson and we all learn from each other.

Black Mask EP

The recently released BLACK MASK EP by CLONE keeps on receiving praise from the EDM community.

Several of his tracks got featured on Zambah with support from: Protohype (150K followers), Breathe Carolina (1M followers), Lucky Date (500K followers), and Apek (100K followers).

Moreover, with features by Soundcloud leaders Trap & Bass, nice words from Arius on YouTube and support from blogs such as EDM JOY, Clone is well on his way.

He is a perfectionist and you can hear that in every element of his songs. The Black Mask EP took no less than two years to complete. In a recent interview with Electrowow Clone states:

“Learning, experimenting and trying to find my own path is what made it take this long. I could have easily released a single here and there but that’s not what I wanted. I wanted to put out a solid EP with everything that goes with it. The right singers, the visuals, the character, the videos. I wanted to be 100% satisfied with everything. It took a lot of time but I’m proud of the results and know I have to keep this bar up for my next releases.”

Don’t forget, if you dig the EP, CLONE gives away his track “Inside My Heart” for free on his Facebook page. No like, no share, just a download button for people who are sick of going through spams or download gates. In his opinion, it may even be the best track from the whole EP.

Want to judge for yourself?

Relationships album

At just three years old, MATT MILLER ended up in the Philadelphia’s foster care system, separated from his three siblings. To cope with the challenges of being a foster child, Matt turned to music and sports. Over a period of years in various places, he created his debut album RELATIONSHIPS which showcases a unique ability to blend dance music with striking lyrics and reflections on life and friendships that came and went.

The overall album is a glance at some of the experiences and emotions people may endure in different relationships and friendships. Six years ago Matt started the search for singers to collaborate with on the project. Collaboration is not an easy task but through determination he found enough singers with the same enthusiasm.

Ironically, Matt feels in creating this album, he may have tarnished his own relationships with the people around him because he devoted so much of his time, energy and finances to it.

“I did not have an identity. I did not know who I was and music allowed me to share my experiences and relate others to my music”

Matt Miller Relationships AlbumMATT MILLER: “Life is not always predictable and relationships of all kinds form everyday. Music is so much a part of my life considering I lived my childhood in the foster care system. I did not have an identity. I did not know who I was and music allowed me to share my experiences and relate others to my music. Through my new album, Relationships, I try to unite people. I appreciated a variety of music growing up which helped me stay focused. Life was very difficult on the streets of Philadelphia and many people can relate to the engaging dance music that I create as a powerful distraction in life. Throughout my life, I struggled and tried to find more of myself and using my talent as a producer and DJ has helped me mature throughout the ups and downs and all of the relationships I did not always choose. I only hope that others are able to benefit from knowing about me and listening to my passion I express through music.”

Matt’s influences include the sound of Tiësto when he was a leader of the Trance movement as well as Hip Hop. Songs like Lethal Industry by Tiësto, One More Time by Daft Punk, and artists like Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, Benny Benassi, Tupac, Biggie, Run DMC, NAS, LL Cool J and DMX left a lasting impression and shaped his later style.

RelationshipsAt the age of 13 he learned the technical aspects of music production from a friend whose dad had instruments for him to practice on. Ever since, Matt taught himself how to use different electronic sounds using software programs like Ableton LiveReason and Protools which led to a career as a DJ and producer. While working towards earning his master’s degree and teaching in public schools, he made sure to reserve precious time for music making and often found himself fine tuning productions until the morning hours. Music is part of his being, derived from authentic feelings for people and situations throughout life that were not always planned.

Matt Miller: “The next projects I am working on is a variety of mini EP’s with more upbeat and high tempo tracks. I am remixing the Relationships Album tracks for festivals and clubs. I am also excited about the album that I am working on that has more club oriented tracks set for music festivals and clubs. The songs Turn It Up, To The East, Dark Eyes and more can be found for free on my growing YouTube channel. I am excited to create lyric videos for some of the songs on the Relationships album.

On my other social media channels I post some of my tracks that are different styles including dubstep, future house, pop, moombahton, and progressive house. As a DJ and producer who is trying to reach diversity, it is important for me to be knowledgeable about these unique genres.”

His name is Emojii, spelled with two i’s… and a smile. He recently proposed to his girlfriend using a song he wrote and created for her and then captured the entire proposal to feature in a special music video.

Oh…and she said YES <3

The wedding is to take place at the end of this year.

And Emojii and his fiancée have been very busy arranging all the good stuff: venue, wedding date. photographer, flowers, dress and tux… It’s all coming together nicely.

To add to all those good vibes: the unique video has now been picked up by the Promo Only network after many dance music DJs and bloggers from around the world fell in love with the song.

Emojii’s style of dance music is soulful and upbeat. He follows more traditional songwriting skills and is also a classically trained pianist who has performed at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York. A unique feat for someone from the world of dance music. Be on the lookout for new piano covers of popular songs on his new YouTube channel.

Moreover, if you are a musician in your own right, Emojii made the Acapella of “Can’t Stop Falling” available to remix artists for non-commercial use. If you want to have a go at it, you can download the file here.

When thinking about how he wanted to propose, he thought it would be romantic to write a song. The song started out as nothing more than a few chord progressions written down on a piece of paper.

Then he went to a studio called ANS Studio’s located in Cresskill New Jersey to turn these chords into a real song. At the studio Emojii composed, wrote and sung the song you hear now. Although the song started off more like a romantic piano and vocal rendition Emojii decided he wanted his listeners to feel happy and upbeat when they heard this song. After all proposing to the one you love is an exciting experience and he wanted to share that feeling with others. So he chose to go for a more Dance type of sound. Maybe one day he’ll release the more romantic version to capture the wedding.

So what is it that Emojii loves about his fiancée?

Emojii: “Showing love. It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant some of the most meaningful things to me are the things she might say throughout the day that I find to be encouraging.”

Music has always been something dear to Emojii. The most beautiful thing about it he feels is the ability to share emotion with others. His goal is to use that power to share positive music and give people something that they can feel happy about in their lives.

Emojii’s music can be found on most major music streaming and download sites. Here are links to the biggest ones.
